Product Description
The Safe & Sound Fingertip Pulse Oximeter is a simple and convenient device intended to measure the oxygen saturation of arterial haemoglobin (%SpO2) and pulse rate (PR).

This device is for domestic use and to be used in adults. A pulse oximeter detects the amount of oxyhaemoglobin and deoxygenated haemoglobin in arterial blood and shows it as Oxyhaemoglobin saturation (SpO2) which is an indirect estimation of arterial oxygen saturation.

Oxygen is carried around in your red blood cells by a molecule called haemoglobin. Pulse oximetry measures how much oxygen the haemoglobin in your blood is carrying. This is called the oxygen saturation and is a percentage (scored out of 100). It is a simple painless test which uses a sensor placed on your fingertip. Measurement Principle: SA8100 uses the Lambert-Beer law principles to measure the oxygen saturation by illuminating the tissues and measuring changes in light absorption of deoxygenated (reduced haemoglobin) and oxygenated haemoglobin (oxyhaemoglo[1]bin) using two light wavelengths: 660nm (red) and 940nm (infrared). A pulse oximeter has light emitting diodes (LEDs) which emits red and infrared light through the tissues. The photo sensor on the other side of the tissue detects the light that is transferred through the tissues. The oxygen saturation is estimated by measuring the transmission of light through the pulsatile tissue bed based on Lambert-Beer law. The ratio of absorbance at these wavelengths is calculated and calibrated against direct measurements of arterial saturation (SaO2) to establish the pulse oximeter’s measure of arterial saturation (SpO2).
